Sizergh Castle

Sizergh Castle is a historic stately home, garden, and estate at Helsington in Cumbria, about 4 miles (6 km) south of Kendal. Dating back to the medieval period, the Grade I listed house has been the home of the Strickland family for over 750 years. While the family still resides there, the castle, gardens, and estate are cared for by the National Trust.  The gardens were beautiful and well-managed.
The Grade II listed gardens at Sizergh include a lake, kitchen garden and an impressive limestone rock garden, created in the 1920s and the largest of its kind in the National Trust's care. The gardens also contain part of the National Collection of ferns, displayed throughout the rock garden, stumpery and orchard.
