Andrea Carlos Lucchesi's Bronze nude female sculptures at Chirk Castle

The four bronze nymph statues by Lucchesi in the grounds of Chirk castle were bought by Lord Howard de Walden (8th Baron Howard de Walden) who leased the castle from the Myddelton family from 1911 - 1946.  Thomas Scott-Ellis was a writer and Paton of the arts and spent vast sums repairing and re-fitting the castle. Prior to installation of the bronzes at Chirk they were displayed in his drawing room at his London residence however, Lady Howard de Walden was not happy with having naked females in her house and demanded they be banished to Chirk gardens.
Now I have looked at the images,  I think I would have done better to have used a larger aperture to defocus the background.

  1. Lovely monochromes, I agree about the aperture, great studies though.
